Neat image plugin for lightroom6/10/2023 ![]() It's working perfectly now.I started off using NI as a stand-alone, but there's an awful lot to recommend the plug-in from an efficient workflow point of view.Īpplying NR processing from within PS, PSP or PSP doesn't necessarily mean a better end result, but keeping the entire PP process in one place strikes me as a more efficient use of my time, and (this matters to me) it means that the entire process from opening the converted file to producing the finished result can be performed in one place, in real time. They also have an 'Advanced' setion that I'm trying to learn for the really good images, but the Beginner section does a stellar job.īTW, I found out that my 'fault' was Pilot Error, and I hadn't loaded the software completely and that's why there were a couple of gremlins. For everyday images i just transfer them into Neat Image and run them through the 'Beginner' workflow where it's all automated (nearly) and this usually sends them out clean a sa whistle. I'm in the process at the moment of reading and trying to learn how to apply the settings and believe that it will make my life a little simpler in the process. I recently found out in the Neat Image manual that you can access a specific library set up by the NeatImage people that has profile settings for different makes/models of cameras that you can apply to you image as part of yor work flow. Thanks for your detailed response, I really appreaciate the time that you've taken to write it all out, I'm more impressed with the work that you've done in working out all the settings. Thanks for raising this issue Bruce as will now download Neat Image and see if it improves my workflow and time to process images which I think are worth the extra effort. I then select an appropriate ISO Preset for the image being processed in Lightroom. The advantages of using the presets is that with a left click of the mouse you can quickly change the settings and compare the result.Īll photos imported into Lightroom have the ISO 500 preset applied during import. ![]() ![]() I now have a Canon 5D MkIV and find that for a photo taken at ISO 2500, often the preset for 1250 will be the best one to use for removing the noise while reducing the amount of overall softening. I developed these for the Canon 5D MkIII. As the ISO increases I decrease the sharpening and increase the Luminance and Color values. Detail and Smoothness both 50 (Lightroom Defaults) (Can't answer why I save as a psd versus tiff).įor the run of the mill images just processed in Lightroom I have saved several presets based on ISO. If I have an image worthy of the extra time and effort I will export from Lightroom into Photoshop, select the bird and then apply different sharpening/noise reduction to the bird and to the background, save the image as a PSD file which is visible in Lightroom. However I find that applying sharpening in Lightroom is ok for most of the images I process - it does result in softening of the entire image. I might be a bit off topic as I have not used neat image. ![]() It seems as if when I close the image in Neat Image to transfer it back into Lightroom, it's not taking the filtration settings with it? I'm obviously doing something wrong in the closing/transfer process because after transferring the image back into Lightroom, I have to follow-up work in the detail panel and it usually makes the image softer and there's not much point in using the Neat Image software if I'm only going to stuff it up when I transfer it back.Īnyone using Neat Image that recognizes an obvious hole in my workflow? My problem is, if I then click on the image to magnify it, there's still heaps of noise present and when the image was in Neat Image, the screen was showing no noise what so ever and the image was nice and sharp with no artifacts or anything showing through. ![]() After that I click the image closed with the cross in the top right hand corner and then the image reopens in Lightroom. When I have finished the final 'Sharpening' process I then click on 'Output Image', wait the few seconds for the filtration process and then move to and click on 'Save Output Image' on the tool bar and in the top right hand corner the setting says "Ready, Saved". My problem is when I transfer the image back into Lightroom. I have no problems transferring an image fro Lightroom into Neat Image and then no problems with results from either the Beginner or Advanced areas of Neat Image. I know that a lot of you use Neat Image as do I. ![]()

Run n gun football game6/10/2023 ![]() On the next play, Silva scrambled to the right, drawing all defenders, which left Pomerleau wide open for the touchdown. The first play of the drive was demoralizing, as Silva completed a long pass to Sloniecki, bringing Pick Six to Legacy’s 7-yard line. With eight minutes left in the game, it was important for Legacy to get a stop. Fortunately Woodward stepped up with another touchdown from Van Gelder their 4th TD connection of the game thus far. With only 11 minutes left in the game, it was important for Legacy’s next drive to end in a score. After the turnover on downs, Pick Six’s Silva completed his 6th touchdown of the day to Sean Heaney making it 41-31. Unfortunately, dropped passes continued to plague Legacy, as one of their wide receivers dropped a pass that would have gone for huge gain. Legacy’s next possession was also a struggle, as they faced the same third and goal that Pick Six had. On a key third down and goal, Silva completed much-needed touchdown pass to Pomerleau to swing the momentum back to Pick Six’s side. Their first possession of the half started slow. Pick Six started the first half in an unfamiliar spot trailing. With less than a minute left in the half, Legacy took their first lead in awhile with another Woodward touchdown, ending the half with a 31-27 lead. The previous stand by Legacy proved to give some confidence to the defense, as the next Pick Six possession ended on an interception by Woodward. ![]() The turnover on downs was followed by a 20-yard touchdown to Anthony Howard. Then, Legacy got something they hadn’t had all game, a defensive stop. The first was on a pitch from Joe Van Gelder to David Sweeney. With their back against the wall, Legacy responded with three unanswered touchdowns to end the half. Heaney’s interception was followed by a touchdown from Silva to Heaney, which helped Pick Six open up the game a bit leading 27-12. ![]() The next play, Van Gelder’s pass was once again dropped, and again landed into the hands of the defense. In Legacy’s next possession, Van Gelder showed his lightning speed as he ran most of the field before being deflagged at the 4-yard line. The first pass by Silva was completed for a touchdown to Pomerleau, followed by a successful PAT making it 20-12. With good field position, Pick Six took advantage. Van Gelder’s first pass to a receiver other than Woodward proved to be a mistake, as a bobbled ball led to an interception by Pick Six’s Kevin Pomerleau. Legacy’s next possession once again started and ended on the first play, except this time, it was not a touchdown. Silva and Pick Six responded in the same fashion, with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Cody Sloniecki to make the score 13-12. With another failed PAT, the score remained at 12-7. Van Gelder and Woodward wasted no time for Legacy’s next possession, completing a perfect 35-yard touchdown pass. The PAT was successful, and Pick Six took the lead, 7-6. Pick Six responded quickly in their first possession, as quarterback, Ricky Silva, efficiently completed short passes to a few different receivers until throwing a touchdown to Sean Heaney. The extra point attempt was incomplete, which became a trend for Legacy as the game went on. Van Gelder completed his first three passes to Woodward, one of which resulted in the game’s first touchdown. Legacy’s quarterback, Joe Van Gelder, and wide receiver, Alex Woodward, showed early signs of amazing chemistry. Legacy started the game with the ball because Pick Six deferred until the second half. The expectations for both couldn’t be higher, but only one team could walk away with the perfect, undefeated season and the bragging rights of being champions. Unlike Pick Six, Legacy had been battle tested throughout the playoffs, winning their four playoff games by an average of only 13 points (one by only one point and another by only three points). Legacy was a team comprised of veteran players, mostly seniors, grad students, and faculty members. Even with the known history of Pick Six, Legacy felt far from an underdog. ![]() Pick Six cruised into the championship game, beating their opponents by an average of 37 points throughout the playoffs. They had proven to be a flag football powerhouse after winning the intramural championship during the fall semester. Pick Six was the favorite coming into the game. The Run N Gun Flag Football Men’s championship was a battle of the unbeatens, as Legacy (8-0) took on Pick Six (8-0). Sports newspapers, particularly those like Marca which places a heavy emphasis on football, attract a large readership in Spain, and some of the main national dailies produce regional editions in major cities like Seville and Valencia. Spain's leading newspapers are predominantly located in the capital, Madrid, though powerful regional sentiments - particularly in Catalonia and the Basque Country - mean major newspapers in those areas can have an important influence in local and national life. This is borne out by the fact that many of the major dailies first hit the news-stands after Franco's death. Newspapers in Spain were tightly controlled for a large part of the 20th century under the autocratic regime of General Francisco Franco, but a vibrant and free press has emerged since the onset of democracy in the mid-1970s. ![]() Squeed towards the average6/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() A sudden cooling in muscle temperature as scalloped hammerhead sharks approach the surface at the end of each dive suggests that they opened their gill slits to resume breathing while still in relatively cool water. Computer modeling suggested that hammerhead sharks must be preventing heat loss from their gills to keep their bodies warm during these deep-dives into cold water.Īdditionally, video of a scalloped hammerhead shark swimming along the seabed at a depth of 1,044 meters (more than 3,400 feet) showed its gill slits tightly closed, whereas similar images from surface waters show these sharks swimming with their gill slits wide open. They saw that their muscles stayed warm throughout their dive into deep cold water but suddenly cooled as the sharks approached the surface toward the end of each dive. The research team discovered this unexpected phenomenon by equipping deep-diving scalloped hammerhead sharks with devices that simultaneously measured their muscle temperature, depth, body orientation and activity levels. Both have evolved to exploit deep dwelling prey and do so by holding their breath to access these physically challenging environments for short periods.” “This previously unobserved behavior reveals that scalloped hammerhead sharks have feeding strategies that are broadly similar to those of some marine mammals, like pilot whales. “Although it is obvious that air-breathing marine mammals hold their breath while diving, we did not expect to see sharks exhibiting similar behavior,” said Royer. These sharks are warm water animals but feed at depths where seawater temperatures are similar to those found in Kodiak Alaska (around 5☌/40☏), yet they need to keep their bodies warm in order to hunt effectively. Shark gills are natural radiators that would rapidly cool the blood, muscles and organs if scalloped hammerhead sharks did not close their gill slits during deep dives into cold water. It is an extraordinary behavior from an incredible animal.” Scalloped hammerhead sharks off the Kona coast of Hawaiʻi Island. “It was unexpected for sharks to hold their breath to hunt like a diving marine mammal. “This was a complete surprise!” said Mark Royer, lead author and researcher with the Shark Research Group at the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology ( HIMB) in the UH Mānoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. This discovery, published today in Science by University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa researchers, provides important new insights into the physiology and ecology of a species that serves as an important link between the deep and shallow water habitats.
